Master of Social Work

Department of Social Work offers post graduate course in Social Work Education i.e. Master of Social Work - M.S.W. - two years full time programme with medium of instructions as English. The Programme started functioning right from the inception of SIBER Trust in the year 1976. Besides, M. Phil programme in Sociology and Social Work is also offered. It is a recognized centre for Ph. D. Programme in Social Work and Sociology of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. This Department is named after Late Shri. Dinkarrao K. Shinde, a renowned teacher and father of the Founder Director & President of CSIBER Trust , Late Dr. A.D. Shinde as D. K. SHINDE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK.  

To impart and organize scientific training / teaching in social work to those desirous of making a career in the field of social work.

1. To organize research activities and to train students in the methods of social work research to promote the growth of social work profession.
2. To offer such training facilities as are necessary to develop the basic and professional knowledge, skills, techniques & attitudes in students to work with individuals, groups & community for enhancement of social functioning. 
3. To organize conferences, symposia, seminars, guest lectures, workshops, etc. for the benefit of those who are in the field of social work, social service and also the public welfare activities undertaken to promote the welfare of different sections of the community.
4. To undertake such other activities as may be deemed necessary to promote understanding and better professional practices in the area of Human Resource Management, Labour Welfare, Industrial Relations, Family and Child Welfare, Criminology and Correctional Administration, Urban and Rural Community Development Work, Medical and Psychiatric social work and the like.
