02 Feb 2021

Digital Sathi is an ICT initiative by the CSIBER Trust, at Nool village of Gadhinglaj ,that aims to provide technology-oriented learning aids and enhance the quality of education in village schools. The project has set up a fully equipped computer laboratory at KanyaVidya Mandir and Kumar Vidya Mandir, which includes 10 desktops, a UPS for backup, and printers.

Access to technology-oriented learning aids is one of the significant challenges faced by many village schools. Most rural areas do not have access to technology infrastructure such as computers or the internet due to inadequate funding or a lack of technical expertise. These factors limit educational opportunities for children from low-income families living in remote areas. Digital Sathi has addressed this challenge by providing access to fully equipped computer labs at Kanya Vidya Mandir and Kumar Vidya Mandir. Through this initiative, students can acquire new skills that will help them become competitive in today's digital economy.

The ICT infrastructure deployed at KanyaVidya Mandir and Kumar Vidya Mandir includes ten desktops with high-speed internet connectivity, a UPS for backup power supply during power outages or fluctuations, as well as printers for printing purposes. With this infrastructure setup, teachers can demonstrate different concepts using multimedia tools like videos or simulations. Furthermore, teachers can use interactive platforms like PowerPoint presentations while answering student questions directly on-screen. Overall, it helps improve teaching techniques while enhancing student engagement through visual representation

Digital literacy offers young people more than just basic computing skills; it makes them effective learners who become comfortable working with new technologies, multimedia tools, and software. Digital Sathi empowers primary school students through technology-oriented learning aids that enable them to access relevant information quickly and efficiently. Moreover, it enhances their creativity by providing a platform for interactive engagement while promoting teamwork through virtual collaboration. The programme exposes children to technological advancements early on, making them better prepared for future educational and career opportunities.

Initiatives like Digital Sathi play a crucial role in bridging the digital divide between rural and urban areas' education quality. Through programmes like this one, village schools can offer quality education to students who would otherwise not have access due to limited infrastructure or a lack of resources. This initiative's implementation in Nool Village has enabled young learners to experience modern learning techniques using various multimedia tools while enhancing their creative skills through digital exposure. In essence, Digital Sathi provides equal opportunity for all students, regardless of socioeconomic background or geographic location.
