On September 3, 2024, Shri Sharad Pawar, former defence minister of India, former agricultural minister of India, an esteemed Indian politician recognized for his significant contributions to education and social development across Maharashtra, inaugurated Anand Bhavan, a versatile hall at the Chhatrapati Shahu Institute of Business Education and Research (CSIBER) Trust in Kolhapur.
In his address, Shri Pawar commended CSIBER’s dedication to societal advancement, connecting its mission to the legacy of influential leaders such as Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Jyotiba Phule, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who advocated for education as a vital force for social change.
Reflecting on the legacy of Dr. A.D. Shinde, the founder of CSIBER, Pawar pointed out his distinctive method of addressing the shortcomings in professional education in Maharashtra. Dr. Shinde had good ties with local political leaders, which made him a key player in establishing educational opportunities, particularly in the fields of commerce and management in the region. Shri Pawar also mentioned that CSIBER’s motto is still inspired by ancient leaders like Chhatrapati Shahu, Phule and Ambedkar who advocated inclusivity, easy access and growth of education.
After felicitating all the guests with mementos and bouquets, there was a speech from Shri Ranjitsinh Shinde, President, CSIBER Trust, who narrated the journey of the institute from inception to present day. He also mentioned that Shri Pawar had earlier inaugurated the CSIBER Building following the inauguration of the Anand Bhawan Auditorium today and would like to request him to visit us again to inaugurate the Shahu University, for which we have moved several steps ahead.
Senior historian Dr. Jaisingrao Pawar spoke about how Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj’s impact has encouraged the Shinde family especially his father, Shri Dinkarrao Shinde to pursue education ventures across the state. Other dignitaries like Mr. Jayantrao Patil, MLA and Mr. Satej Patil, MLA expressed their admiration for CSIBER’s strides and its likely influence on future generations.
Dr. A.D. Shinde gracefully remembered and regarded Shri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj and congratulated all on the successful completion of the Anand Bhavan. Moving ahead, he acknowledged the association between Shinde family and Kolhapur’s royal ancestry. Finally, Mr. Hrishikesh Shinde, Secretary, CSIBER gave a vote of thanks while builders who have worked on such construction were felicitated.
