Department of Environment Management

The Department of Environment Management was by the Institute started in 1987.  Environment Management is an important issue in the sustainable development at global level. Soon after the Stockholm Conference in 1972, number of Universities in India started Environmental Science and Engineering courses at graduate and post graduate level giving more emphasis on basic Science and Engineering aspects of the environment. In the earlier days, environment was considered as an end product of an industrial process confining only to pollution control of water, soil, air and noise. But after the existence of WTO and GATT agreement, a number of environmental issues not only confined to pollution control but mainly focus on business aspects and environment to make their product eco-friendly in the global market.

Hence Environmental Management is now-a-days turning out to be a good business opportunities for the entire corporate sector. The best example being carbon trading. In this connection the global convention on climate change at Kyoto, Bali agreement and Copenhagen conventions are the milestones, which provide good opportunities for environment protection and business environment. Hence, it is the need of the time to infuse the environmental concepts in all the functional areas of business development.

Therefore, CSIBER has started for the first time in India two full time Post Graduate Programmes viz. M.E.M. (Master of Environment Management) in 1987 with approval from Shivaji University and M.B.A. (Master of Environment Management) with dual specialization in 2010-2011 with approval from the A.I.C.T.E., New Delhi and Shivaji University.
